Green Space for All: Everett, MA Public Parks Undergo Revitalization

In Everett, MA, Bohler is putting a unique spin on urban green space at two public parks. As part of the neighborhood’s revitalization efforts, our landscape architecture team is transforming dilapidated playgrounds and energizing tired trails to create enjoyable and safe gathering places for all members of the community, including the family pets.

Central Ave Park

Neighborhood dogs will have a lot to enjoy when the renovated Central Ave Park reopens next year as a $1 million dog park, going well beyond traditional dust and grass. A playground designed for dogs, it will feature a shallow pool with misting stations, various play elements, and obstacles for dogs to climb on and interact with. The design doesn’t leave out the owners or families either. Seating and walking paths are located throughout the park, and a separated tot lot and pocket park maintain spaces for children to play and neighbors to interact.

Bohler’s landscape architecture project team creatively designed the park to be safe and enjoyable for residents, children, and dogs.

Hale School Park

The existing park at the former Hale School site, about a block away from Central Ave Park, offers some green space, but fails to alleviate the stress of urban life. The City of Everett plans to change that by adding exciting playground and water features for young children and older children alike, while retaining walking paths and benches. The park’s revival efforts will also include a pavilion and community garden, which will contribute to the overall health and well-being of the neighborhood.
