Industrial Park to Breathe New Life into Former Slate Quarry

11 July, 2018

A former slate quarry, filled with more than two million tires, will be transformed into a 55-acre industrial park. Green Knight Industrial Park II in Wind Gap, PA recently broke ground and infrastructure work is now underway for 200,000 SF of new warehouse space.

Bohler provided civil engineering, surveying, and permitting services for the brownfield development. With no existing infrastructure in place, our engineers designed water main extensions within the park and beneath Route 33, a state highway, as well as sewer lines, a pump station and force main, gas main extensions, and electricity. Our team also coordinated the subdivision of the site into 10 lots between 1.5 – 13 acres, and secured three sets of municipal approvals, as the massive project spanned three townships.

The redevelopment will provide flexible warehouse space for a growing industrial market and expansion options for small-to-mid sized manufacturing firms in the area. Once completed, the park is estimated to create approximately 280 jobs for the community.
