Leading Land Development Students to Success

16 August, 2018

Congratulations to the winning team of Virginia Tech students in the Land Development Design Initiative (LDDI)!

LDDI is a program at Virginia Tech that prepares students for careers in the land development industry. Every semester for the last several years, Bohler has guided a team of students in the Advanced Land Development Design course as they created design plans for one of Bohler’s projects.

For the recent spring semester, LDDI alumni and Bohler Design Engineers Cody Mudd and Christopher Rose met with students weekly and helped them create civil engineering plans for a retail building in Leesburg, VA.

The students worked on the project throughout the semester, completing plans for grading, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control. The project culminated in a presentation similar to those given to a town or city meeting in hopes of securing approval. Upon receiving the highest score from mentor judges, the Bohler team was invited to present their project at the annual LDDI summer meeting.

Bohler proudly partners with Virginia Tech’s LDDI as a way of preparing students for future success in the land development industry, and is often featured in the quarterly LDDI newsletter. Check out the latest issue, highlighting Bohler project, the St. James Sports and Wellness Center, and LDDI alum and Bohler Design Engineer Pilar Moore.
