ARLINGTON, VA, November 1, 2013 – Enthusiastic volunteers from Bohler’s Northern Virginia offices participated in the American Institute of Architects’ Northern Virginia CANstruction build event at Reagan National Airport on Friday. Bohler coordinated efforts with a local architecture firm, the Lukmire Partnership, and local general contractor, R.E. Daffan. Together, the team constructed a life-size boxing match between a  turkey and an ice cream cone entitled “We CAN Knock-out hunger”. The structure used approximately 1,860 cans that were all donated to the Arlington Food Assistance Center.

About CANstruction

CANstruction is an international competition that invites teams of designers to create giant- sized structures made entirely out of canned food. Builders have one night to assemble their design which then remains on display for all to see. Teams are required to follow the theme guidelines, which for this specific event was “fighting hunger.”
