A pair of prominent New York developers, including former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, is teaming up to create one of the largest trophy-class developments in downtown D.C.

Rockrose Development Corp. and Spitzer Enterprises have decided to cast their lots together to combine two buildings into an 800,000-square-foot project by 20th and L streets NW. Alexander Court will connect Rockrose’s 2000 L St. NW with Spitzer’s 2001 K St. NW. The joint venture partners retained The Avenue architect Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects to design the project, which will feature an eye-catching 12-story atrium that serves as the connective tissue between the two buildings.
