Cheers! Northeast Breweries Expand While Holding On to Local Roots

16 November, 2017

To craft brewers’ delight, Bohler has teamed up with two acclaimed breweries, Yards Brewing Co. in Philadelphia, PA and Blue Point Brewery in Patchogue, NY, to develop new digs in their founding cities. Yards has been called “Philadelphia’s Beer,” while Blue Point has become one of the nation’s largest craft breweries and is now distributed internationally.

Local to both brewers’ hometown cities, Bohler provided civil engineering design and consulting services for their new facilities, which will allow both brands to boost operations while keeping ties with the strong allegiance of local beer-drinking fans.

In Philadelphia, Bohler helped Yards Brewing Co. develop its new home on Spring Garden Street, an 82,000 SF brewery and distribution center. A proponent of increasing manufacturing in the city, Yards outgrew its current space and felt strongly about keeping its roots in the City of Brotherly Love. The brewery celebrated the grand opening of its new facilities today.

On Long Island, the “Toasted Lager” brewers are building their new 71,000 SF brewery in Patchogue village, just down the street from the original location. In addition to the site design, Bohler’s permitting team is also working directly with the Italian manufacturer that is designing and installing the custom system for brewing, bottling and distribution. The new location will focus on the customer’s experience and will ultimately feature a beer garden, green space, and experiential space. The project broke ground last month and is expected to open in Spring 2019
