Pipefitters Association Local 537 Opens New Training Facility and Headquarters

A new training center and headquarters for Pipefitters Local 537, which provides a variety of services and courses for the piping industry, is opening in Dorchester, MA just in time for the Spring 2019 semester.

Located across the street from Bohler’s one million SF South Bay Town Center redevelopment, the project is part of an ongoing transformation of the area. In recent years, the neighborhood has experienced a flurry of new retail, restaurants, and residential redevelopment and renovation.

The four-story, 70,000-SF facility includes office space, classrooms, and a 500-person auditorium, which will be available for public use. In addition, the design provides 10,700 SF of community open space.

Bohler’s team led the civil design and permitting for the project. Through coordination with the project team, we demonstrated the new building would not adversely affect the existing 108-inch sewer interceptor, which cut diagonally through the site. This process required providing documentation to the Boston Water & Sewer Commission.
