Charlotte-Based Asana Partners to Revitalize Historic Briarcliff Plaza

Bohler’s Atlanta office was thrilled to be selected to provide site improvements and permitting to support the revitalization of Briarcliff Plaza, one of the city’s oldest shopping centers. Built in 1939, the Plaza is known for being the first center with a shopper-centric off-street parking lot. Current retailers and restaurants include Urban Outfitters, the iconic Plaza Theatre, Majestic Diner, and The Righteous Room. In 2019, the Plaza will welcome the additions of Southern Belle & Georgia Boy by Chef Joey Ward, Jinya Ramen Bar, Burn Studios, and Queen of Cream.

Purchased in 2017 by Charlotte-based Asana Partners, the property – consisting of three buildings on 2.6 acres – fits squarely inside the firm’s emphasis on investing in high-growth urban and infill neighborhoods. With plans to own and manage the Plaza, Asana Partners’ focus is on revitalizing the property’s access, infrastructure, interior upfits, and other modern amenities while staying true to its historic roots and the overlay district that governs the building’s historic context.

To achieve the desired site and access improvements, Bohler provided civil design, ADA upgrades, utility connections, project permitting, and coordination with the Briarcliff Plaza Landmark District and the Atlanta Urban Design Commission based on historical designations.
