Shovels hitting ground on Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa, FL — it’s a sound that hasn’t been heard on the boulevard in nearly a decade. Bohler Associate Greg Roth joined project team members in the first shovels at the groundbreaking of Virage Bayshore, a high-end, 225,000 SF, 24-story residential tower overlooking Tampa Bay.

Bohler provided civil engineering and permitting services for the project, a joint venture of Ascentia Development Group and Batson-Cook Development. The two-acre waterfront development will house 75 luxury condos, more than half of which are already reserved.

Bohler’s Randy Smith, left, Director of Business Development, and Justin Passanise, far right, Senior CAD Designer, joined Bob Buckhorn, Mayor of Tampa at the groundbreaking celebrations.

Project Highlights
•The entire site and curvilinear building is designed around a 50-inch-diameter Grand Oak, the largest and oldest trees of its kind. With city protective measures preventing removal of Grand Oaks, our team met the challenge with a creative grading and utility design so as not to impact the tree’s root system.

•An extensive underground stormwater management system was designed on this sensitive site, a mere 250 feet from the Tampa Bay shoreline.
