Broad and Washington Breaks Ground in Philadelphia, PA

26 January, 2022

Philadelphia, PA developers Post Brothers and Tower Investments are teaming up to bring a 1.9 million-SF mixed-use project to Broad Street and Washington Avenue in the South Philly neighborhood.

Decades in the making, the $750-million project will include 1,457 apartments, more than 65,000 SF of retail space on the ground floor, and a parking garage. The first phase will feature 600 apartments across four interconnected buildings and 50,000 SF of ground-floor commercial space. This phase is anticipated to be completed in 2024.

To date, Broad and Washington is the largest project in the U.S. to use prefabricated load-bearing wall panels for Class A housing. This allowed the developers to save 25% on hard costs, versus traditional concrete and steel construction.

“It’s an honor to work with Post Brothers in developing such a monumental community in our own backyard that will not only set a record for mixed-use housing in Philadelphia, but also the entire country,” Tower Investments founder and CEO Bart Blatstein said.

Bohler’s Philadelphia team is providing civil engineering and permitting services for the project.
