525 LINC Named NEREJ Project of the Month

The New England Real Estate Journal has selected Arx Urban and Boylston Properties’ 525 LINC, one of Boston, Massachusetts’ first co-living apartment communities, as its Project of the Month.

The project, designed and permitted by Bohler’s Boston team, aims to address the city’s housing shortage by providing shared or “uncomplicated living.” Co-living is a modern form of communal housing in which residents live in fully furnished apartments. Bohler’s planning and landscape architecture team collaborated with architect HDS Architecture to create a welcoming and inspiring environment for people to interact and share experiences.

The co-living concept has grown in popularity since the pandemic due to the surge in remote workers and the demand for social and community support. The building is intended to be an engaging facility that enhances both the resident and public experience. Early feedback praises the building for creating a hotel-like environment that caters to the needs of today’s modern lifestyle.

The building follows the site’s unique geometry, forming an L-shaped configuration encompassing a public courtyard. The design is characterized by two “bookends” connected by an undulating brick facade that engages the streetscape. Floor-to-ceiling glass highlights the amenity spaces, creating a seamless transition from interior to exterior. Throughout the design process, attention to detail was maintained to create a smart, well-crafted building that benefits the neighborhood and community as a whole.
