Bohler Project Named to NJBIZ 2026 Top Projects List

June 2026

Bohler is proud to celebrate the recognition of The Kempson in Metuchen, New Jersey, as a recipient of the NJBIZ 2026 Top Projects award. Developed by Klein Enterprises, the transformative redevelopment project was honored as part of the NJBIZ Leaders in Real Estate, Construction and Design Awards program, which recognizes projects reshaping communities across New Jersey.

Through a collaborative partnership between Metuchen Borough, Middlesex County, and Klein Enterprises, The Kempson will transform the former Gulton battery warehouse and factory site into a vibrant five-story, 272-unit residential community featuring extensive amenities, including a community garden, dog park, makerspace units, rooftop terraces, a pool, and outdoor gathering spaces.

The project also incorporates a strong commitment to sustainability through features such as NGBS Silver certification, EV charging stations, rooftop solar panels, a partial green roof, LED lighting, Energy Star appliances, low-flow fixtures, and a pollinator garden.

In addition, the project includes significant enhancements to the adjoining 120-acre Peter J. Barnes III Wildlife Preserve, including walking trails, recreational space, and an extension to the existing Middlesex Greenway.

Bohler provided site planning, civil engineering, entitlement, and environmental regulatory expertise throughout the project, helping navigate the complexities of redeveloping the historic industrial site while aligning stakeholder goals and community priorities.

Now in its sixth year, the NJBIZ Top Projects awards recognize standout developments that are redefining New Jersey’s built environment through innovation, collaboration, and community impact.

Congratulations to Klein Enterprises, Metuchen Borough, Middlesex County, and the entire project team on this well-deserved recognition.
