The McDonald’s at 4834 Langston Blvd in Arlington, VA, has been demolished to make way for a newly modernized restaurant on the same site, with construction set to begin this June and reopening anticipated in October 2025.

The new McDonald’s will maintain the same footprint but feature upgraded amenities, including self-ordering kiosks and a dual-lane drive-thru designed to improve efficiency and alleviate the traffic backups that frequently occurred with the previous single-lane configuration. While the indoor PlayPlace will not return, the updated design will include a small outdoor seating patio.

Notably, this project marks the first redevelopment under Arlington County’s recently adopted Langston Boulevard Area Plan, which aims to transform the 4.5-mile corridor into a vibrant, mixed-use, and sustainable “green main street.” The plan prioritizes increased housing supply (including affordable options), improved public spaces, enhanced connectivity and transportation options, economic vitality, environmental resilience, and equity for all residents.

Bohler is supporting the redevelopment by providing land planning, site civil engineering design, and permitting services, contributing to the realization of the Langston Boulevard Plan’s vision of thoughtful, sustainable, and community-focused development.
