Regency Centers recently unveiled an ambitious redevelopment plan for East Meadow Plaza in East Meadow, NY, aiming to breathe new life into the underutilized shopping center.

By merging East Meadow Plaza with neighboring Stew Leonard’s Plaza, the project will modernize the area with enhanced building facades and durable materials. The redevelopment will also address safety concerns, improving traffic circulation and creating better sight lines for exiting the center.

“We’re thrilled to continue to expand in Long Island, which is one of Regency’s core markets,” said Jack deVilliers, Senior Vice President, Senior Market Officer. “We look forward to enhancing the already fantastic community of East Meadow with Regency’s unique merchandising, placemaking, and fresh look approaches.”

The redevelopment will dramatically enhance the center’s landscaping, nearly tripling the current number of shrubs and incorporating additional trees throughout the site. Bohler Melville Project Manager Mike Biancaniello noted that these improvements will not only beautify the area but also help mitigate issues such as reckless driving within the center. Bohler is leading the site’s civil engineering, landscape architecture, and permitting efforts to ensure a smooth and successful redevelopment.

Aiming to attract new businesses, Regency has announced the addition of popular stores like Lidl and UPS, with more tenants yet to be announced.

While some work is underway, the bulk of the redevelopment will start in the summer of 2025 and finish by the end of the year.
