Leveraging Topography to Accentuate Architecture for Adams Outdoor Advertising

Adams Outdoor Advertising selected Charlotte, NC, as the location for their new headquarters after outgrowing their previous office space. Situated on a prominent 5-acre site along I-85, the 18,000 SF office development stands out as a landmark with its distinctive architecture.  

However, the site’s existing stream and steep topography posed challenges by limiting the usable land. Bohler played a pivotal role in helping Adams Outdoor Advertising achieve their vision by working closely with the design and development team to establish elevations and create a site layout that leveraged the natural topography to highlight the building’s unique design. 

Additionally, the site contained ribbons of rock that complicated the placement of underground stormwater and utility systems. Bohler collaborated with the contractor and geotechnical teams to adjust the site layout strategically, minimizing rock disturbance and keeping the project within budget.
