Albany County, New York, has unveiled plans to transform a long-vacant property on South Pearl Street into a modern, centralized bus terminal that will enhance connectivity, improve first impressions of downtown, and support continued revitalization efforts near MVP Arena.
Bohler will serve as the site civil engineer, permitting consultant, and landscape architect for the project, supporting Albany County in bringing the vision for a vibrant, well-integrated transportation hub to life.
The proposed terminal will serve regional bus operators, including Greyhound Lines, Adirondack Trailways, and Peter Pan Bus Lines, replacing the current Greyhound station on Hamilton Street, which has operated since 1973.
Strategically located near MVP Arena, the new terminal is designed to better connect visitors and residents to downtown attractions. MVP Arena is a 15,000+ seat, multi-purpose entertainment venue that hosts concerts, sporting events, family shows, and community gatherings throughout the year, drawing visitors from across the Capital Region and beyond.
County officials anticipate the new terminal will increase foot traffic, support local businesses along South Pearl Street, and create a safer, more welcoming environment. The project includes plans for additional parking and 24-hour security in partnership with the Albany County Sheriff’s Office to ensure a secure experience for travelers and the surrounding community.
