Bohler Supports Wonder Plaza Redevelopment

16 December, 2024

Howard University and Greystar have revealed plans to redevelop Wonder Plaza along Georgia Avenue in Washington, D.C.

The project, called the Fusion Building, is a public-private partnership (P3 or PPP) that will include 280 student housing units, ground-floor retail, a dining hall, and a wellness center. The design team includes WDG Architecture, Bohler DC for site civil engineering design, and Bohler’s MidAtlantic survey team.

The wellness center will span the underground and ground levels of the development and will feature weight training areas, basketball courts, and an indoor track. The dining hall will also be located on the ground floor along Georgia Avenue, creating a lively hub for residents and visitors.

While the development will include 160 underground parking spaces, it is designed with a focus on pedestrian access and alternative transportation options, providing 106 long-term and 32 short-term bicycle parking spaces.

Although the existing building, originally constructed in 1902 for the Corby Baking Company, is not listed as a historic site, portions of its façade will be preserved to maintain a connection to the site’s historical character.

The redevelopment aims to create a dynamic, student-focused community while respecting the location’s history. Learn more.
