Bohler Celebrates Belmont Park Grandstand Topping Out

October 2025

Bohler, in partnership with Populous, NYRA, and other project collaborators, celebrated the topping out of the new Belmont Park Grandstand, marking the completion of the structural frame for the 300,000-square-foot, five-story clubhouse.

The redevelopment will transform Belmont into a world-class racing and entertainment destination, featuring state-of-the-art amenities, 21st-century technology, expanded public green space, and improved accessibility throughout the infield.

Bohler’s Long Island team has played a key role in the project, providing site civil engineering design and permitting services across the property. The team’s design required integration with new pedestrian and vehicular tunnels, including a 504-foot-long, 48-foot-wide tunnel running 33 feet under the track to separate traffic and open the 45-acre infield for additional public use and green space.

Bohler also addressed challenges related to historic infrastructure, field-verifying utility systems dating back to the 1940s and coordinating jurisdictional issues across Nassau County and Queens. Beyond the grandstand and tunnels, Bohler’s work spans the broader property, supporting improvements associated with the $1.2B UBS Arena and the adjacent Belmont Park Village, an open-air luxury outlet shopping center.

Construction will continue through 2025, with the venue opening for live racing in September 2026, and major events like the Belmont Stakes and Breeders’ Cup returning in 2027. When complete, Belmont Park will include four racing surfaces, advanced irrigation and drainage systems, and modern hospitality and fan amenities, blending innovation with the historic legacy of this iconic venue.
